Tusitiri Dhow

Lamu

Dhows are traditional wooden sailing vessels originally built for carrying exotic spices and goods along the Indian Ocean trade routes. Tusitiri Dhow’s story was born from one Scandinavian family’s love for Africa. After 30 years of exploring Africa’s wild, un-spoilt expanses and developing conservation projects, the family have lovingly restored Tusitiri dhow to create a truly unique experience. Life on board is laid back and centered on Tusitiri’s broad deck. Sumptuous cushioned seating areas line the deck and the dining area is next to Tusitiri’s solid wooden mast. Guests sleep on comfortable white linen bedrolls, which areelaid out on deck under the stars after dinner. Bathrobes and kikoi towels are supplied and below deck there are shared bathroom facilities and cabin space for luggage and dressing. There is one open-air (hot) shower, a traditional dhow toilet and a flush toilet below deck.Whether you wish to picnic on remote beaches, sail, snorkel, deep-sea fish or visit Lamu’s fascinating cultural sites, Tusitiri provides a serene and truly original way to explore the beautiful Lamu archipelago.Tusitiri is available on an exclusive charter basis and daily activities are tailored to suit your interests, the seasons and the tides.
