Days 1-3
Bogotá
Bogotá is home to nine art schools and many internationally acclaimed artists. As the country emerges into a new era of stability, Colombia’s long history of creative talent is starting to rise from underground platforms and come onto the world stage.
Stay at the Four Seasons Casa Medina, a Victorian-style luxury hotel with elegant rooms and an excellent location for exploring Bogotá’s food and art scene. This evening, we will arrange for you to enjoy dinner at the home of an art collector for a candid insight into the links between Colombia’s art and politics.
Enjoy a full day of exploring the galleries of San Felipe with an expert art curator. Meet local artists and designers at their studios and experience a private visit with the curator of the Modern Art Museum.
Days 4-6
Barichara
Barichara is a picture-perfect colonial town embraced by Andean valleys. Stay in the family home of a former president and visit the workshops of local artists putting this town on the creative map.
Casa del Presidente is a stunning private villa that was once the residence of the late president Belisario Betancur. Betancur was also a philanthropist and patron of the arts, and this home is a fitting base from which to discover Barichara’s art scene. The gardens are the perfect setting for a special dinner with live music.
Visit the ateliers and workshops of local artists and learn about the history, culture and architecture of this captivating town. We will ensure you have plenty of time to wander the cobbled streets at your own pace. During your stay, we will arrange exclusive access to the private art collection of a renowned artist living in town and a visit to an organic coffee farm.
Days 7-9
Cartagena
Cartagena is truly an artist’s city and is responsible for some of the most influential contemporary artists in the country.
Stay at Casa San Agustín, an exquisite and welcoming boutique hotel in Cartagena’s Old Town.
With original frescoes in the library and centuries-old wood-beamed ceilings, Casa San Agustín’s architecture evokes the city’s rich history of the 17th century. The hotel’s Alma restaurant is one of the best in town, and we always recommend reserving a table well in advance.
Our specialist art guide will take you on a creative journey through the streets of the city. Start in the lively neighbourhood of Getsemani, where street artists make their name (there is even the option to take part in a graffiti workshop). Meet local artists and the curators of some of the top art galleries in Cartagena.
