ACTIVITIES
Not only does Sri Lanka have some excellent hotels and private villa’s to choose from. On the South and West Coast, you are never too far from a characterful fishing town. The west coast also offers guests a vibrant cultural heritage including folklore, music and dance as well as architectural influences from the Dutch period. Many temples, kovils, churches and mosques are situated along the coast, and cottage industries such as basket-weaving, mask-carving and antique restoration provide for interesting shopping.
Enjoy surfing or whale watching in Mirissa, scuba diving in Dickwella and even a Turtle Night Safari in Rekura.
VARIETY
There’s something for everyone in Sri Lanka. Some beaches offer excellent surf. For families, there are quieter swimming beaches and coral protected coves. Offshore, the marine life is superb. Many enjoy sailing, whale watching and water sports. The coast is rustic, authentic and unspoilt.
DIVERSITY
Sri Lanka’s west coast covers the coastal strip just south of Colombo all the way down to Hikkaduwa. The main attraction of this side of the island, apart from the string of small towns such as Kalutara, Bentota, Ahungalla and Hikkaduwa, are the tropical beaches and lagoons lined with mangroves.
The south coast of Sri Lanka is made up of coral-protected bays, tropical sandy beaches and rural fishing villages. The mixture of unspoilt wilderness and a colourful cultural heritage make the southern coast an ideal place to escape the bustle of the larger cities. Enjoy surfing or whale watching in Mirissa, scuba diving in Dickwella and even a Turtle Night Safari in Rekura.
The east coast tends to have the best weather in our summer months when the south and west coast monsoons arrive. This stretch of coastline is still very undeveloped. Our favourite coast is Passekudah.
Judy & Chris
We had an amazing holiday in Sri Lanka. All the hotels, transfers, trips and experiences arranged by True Travel were perfect and all the arrangements went seamlessly according to plan. Our guide and driver, Thusita, was a really nice man and so knowledgable, going out of his way to make sure that we experienced many of the Sri Lankan foods and traditions as possible. I would recommend True Travel to anyone especially if you have not visited the country before.
