Delight in an ideal family adventure in Belize, immersing yourselves in a myriad of thrilling outdoor activities amidst the vibrant landscape of rushing rivers, tropical rainforests, and ancient archaelogical ruins.

Highlights

  • Explore the largest tropical rainforest north of the Amazon
  • Visit ancient archaeological sites
  • Navigate rivers fringed with forest by kayak or canoe
  • Incredible birdwatching opportunities
  • End your adventure on the Caribbean coast with easy access to some of the best dive sites in the world

Day 1 - 2: Cayo District

Explore Belize’s oldest and largest national park

Discover pre-Hispanic cave sites once used by Maya tribes

The Central Cayo District of Belize is home to the Mountain Pine Ridge National park, the largest in Belize. This itinerary begins with a total immersion in nature in the foothills of the Maya Mountains.

Your guide and driver will meet you at the airport and drive you to Chaa Creek. The drive is about 2 hours. During your time at Chaa Creek, we have included a full day with a private guide to explore some of the treasures in the region. Explore sites such as The Actun Tunichil Muknal or ‘Cave of the Stone Sepulchre’. Located in the heart of the rainforest, the cave was once a sacred site of the early Maya between 300-600AD. The only way to reach this cave is to swim down freshwater streams, and it is a wonderful adventure to do as a family with children aged 8 and over.

Day 3 - 4: Orange Walk District

Discover the remarkable wildlife in the Maya Forest

Take a safari vehicle ride across the Gallon Jug Estate, passing lakes and foraging for edible plants along the way

A two-hour drive from Chaa Creek to Chan Chich brings you deep into the Maya Forest and some of the most well-preserved jungles in the country.

Chan Chich is one of the best destinations in Central America for birdwatching, with over 350 species residing in these lush canopies. Set within the Gallon Jug Estate in the Maya Forest, the lodge is surrounded by jungle, and there are over 9 miles of well-maintained hiking trails to allow you to explore at your leisure. Other activities include horseback riding, canoeing, day trips to ancient sites such as Lamanai and nighttime drives into the jungle.

Day 5 - 9: Ambergris Caye

Opportunity to dive or snorkel over the Belize Barrier Reef.

Enjoy the vibrant fishing town of San Pedro

Jutting out into the Caribbean Ocean, Ambergris Caye is a laid-back island with almost no traffic and a sugar-white coast surrounded by coral reefs.

Drive back to Belize City in time for a short flight to San Pedro. Stay at Victoria House, a beachfront lodge on the edge of the Belize Barrier Reef. With a large swimming pool, leafy tropical gardens and a charming palapa beach bar, this is a perfect beach retreat for a family holiday in Belize. Victoria House is only 15 minutes from San Pedro, with an array of seafood restaurants, tiki bars and dive shops.

We have included a snorkelling tour to Mexico Rock. Here you will glide over a mesmerising collection of sponges, sea fans, coral and starfish. Giant brain coral formations create undersea habitats for fish of all shapes and colours, including angelfish, butterflyfish, flounder and stingrays. The bay is calm and shallow, making it an excellent spot for swimming with children.
