Day 2 - 8: Mount Kilimanjaro, Tanzania

  • Spend seven days climbing the great Mount Kilimanjaro from the east side, on the more private Rongai Route
  • Reach Africa’s highest point for breathtaking views over the Mawenzi

Embark on an unforgettable adventure to climb Africa’s highest peak – one of the world’s largest volcanoes.

Join your expert guides on a challenging seven day climb up Mount Kilimanjaro from the eastern side of the National Park, to go off the beaten track with the Rongai Route. This less populated trek takes a relatively gradual ascent with a high chance of some fantastic wildlife sightings. Stop at camping points along the way as you spend your days ascending the iconic peak. Climb to the 5,681m Gilman’s Point, before the last stretch and an early morning to climb through the dark and enjoy sunrise from the Uhuru Point summit at 5,896m. From there look out over the Kibo crater, ash pits and glaciers and enjoy being on top of Africa’s highest peak – the ‘Roof of Africa’ – before taking the last day to descend.

Day 8 - 9: Arusha, Tanzania

  • Enjoy a well-deserved shower after your seven day climb up Mount Kilimanjaro
  • Relax your tired muscles in the pool or sunbathe on a deckchair at Rivertrees Country Inn

Unwind and relax for the night with a stop in Arusha for a good night’s rest before heading out for your safari.

Now is the time for a bit of relaxation before you set out to the heart of the Serengeti National Park the following day. Unwind in the Rivertree Country Inn’s estate, filled with indigenous wildlife and birdlife, rejuvenate with a tranquil massage or enjoy a freshly prepared pizza from the inn’s wood burning oven, over a crackling fire under the starry night sky.
