Hips and haws, sloes and sorrel, redcurrants and raspberries. These and a hundred other plants can be found in our hedgerows and fields. Head out with the UK’s top expert – author of four foraging books and a regular on Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall’s on River Cottage – for a day of private foraging.
Our forebears routinely collected wild fruit, nuts and leaves from hedgerows, woods, scrub and fields. These wild foods are still there, just waiting to be gathered. All you need to enjoy these treasures is to be able to find and reliably identify them. Unable to tell a dock leaf from a horse radish leaf? Our guide John will teach you all of his tricks of the trade. Seasonality, of course, is everything, so you’ll delve for the salad greens in spring, flowers and berries in summer and nuts and fruit in autumn. If fortunes are good, a cook-up of finds will close the day.
Price per private group (up to 30 people): £800
