After breakfast and a leisurely morning at Orca Island, board a private seaplane for a beautiful two-hour flight inland and north to Denali National Park. Stay just outside of the park at Chelatna Lake Lodge, a luxurious fly-in lodge set alone in blissful seclusion on eight-mile Lake Chelatna. Cross over the Alaska Range on a private seaplane tour and witness the arctic alpine tundra of the north side of Denali National Park’s remote interior, follow the river systems of Talkeetna into an incredible landscape of icefalls, glaciers and snowy peaks, and behold the many faces of North America’s tallest mountain. Land on a glacier in the park to get a closeup look at the beautiful landscape. After your flight, warm up in the wood-fueled sauna and maybe take a dip in the glacial-fed lake. Explore the lake’s shoreline by boat to see grizzly and black bears, moose, beaver, river otters, coyotes, and for the lucky, an elusive wolf or wolverine. Enjoy paddle boarding on the lake or hike into Denali Park with a wildlife expert, through alpine meadows exploding with wildflowers, along meandering streambeds with cascading waterfalls, and past towering rock faces that herald the beginning of the Alaska Range. Experience DNP by air in a helicopter to access Alaska’s most remote lakes and mountains, landing by whim at secluded picnic spots and fishing holes. On your last morning, transfer by one-hour scenic seaplane flight back to Anchorage for your homebound flight.
