Visit Rome

Capital cities can be overwhelming, but the joy of Rome is that the city’s highlights are largely on top of one another. Make a wish in the Trevi Fountain and enjoy some time eating gelato on the Spanish Steps. Close your eyes and imagine a gladiator fight at the Colosseum or whilst strolling through the Roman Forum. Better still, explore further on a Vespa.

While the modern day city sprawls, most places of interest fit into a fairly small historic centre. To the east of the Tiber, strewn across the Seven Hills, one can explore the districts of Old Rome, the Renaissance-era centre of the city, with beautiful cathedrals and squares such as the piazzas Navona and Campo de’ Fiori. Colosseo marks the ancient city centre and contains the Colosseum, the Imperial fora and Capitoline Hill. Adjoining is the Modern Centre, home to the Trevi Fountain and elegant Via Veneto, and above this the North Centre and Spanish Steps. Across the Tiber is the independent Vatican City

Our family are hooked on Italy and Molly‘s passion and knowledge means she keeps finding us something new. The latest trip was in the Dolomites – Rosa Alpina is the dream. Officially our favourite hotel ever. We’re going to Puglia next but we have to wait until next year for that!
