The Data Pulse – 18th March 2021

True Travel Down Arrow

HOME > JOURNALThe Data Pulse – 18th March 2021

With The Data Pulse, we’re bringing you the latest worldwide COVID case data every week. We’ll bring you notice of rising and falling trends in each country, as well as announcements as the world plans to reopen international borders for tourists. The figure of cases per 100,000 population was a key statistic in the UK government’s decision making for travel corridors in 2020, and is a simple indication as to how a country is currently handling the pandemic. By keeping on top of the statistics, we will bring you predictions and travel recommendations ahead of the announcements, so that you can stay ahead of the game when planning your holidays.

18th March 2021

  • Portugal and Mauritius have been removed from England’s ‘red list’ of countries requiring hotel quarantine.
  • Portugal’s cases continue to reduce dramatically, now sitting within the ‘green zone’ of less than 50 cases per 100k.
  • Spains cases also continue to fall. We predict it will fall into the same ‘green zone’ within the next few weeks.
  • France and Italy bring in new lockdown measures to combat recent rises, which are also occurring across Germany, Croatia, Greece and the Netherlands.
  • Countries such as Bhutan and Vietnam almost eliminate the virus, with less than 50 cases reported across the whole country in the last week.
  • South Africa’s case rates remain under control at a low level of 15.5 per 100k.
