Embark on a scenic transfer through the foothills of the Rwenzori Mountains to arrive at the Kyambura Gorge Lodge. This lodge is located on the edge of the Queen Elizabeth National Park and has sweeping views of the rolling savanna, the distant mountains of the moon and the sunken Kyambura Gorge. Embark on a chimpanzee trek through the Kyambura Gorge to spot these primates in the sunken forest, or try and spot a leopard in the thicket on an early morning game drive. Cruise down the Kazinga Channel to see great concentrations of hippo as well as elephants, buffalo and wading birds who come down to drink at the river. Lastly is the lodge’s VSPT’s community projects that support the area’s tourist initiatives. • Trek through the primaeval Bwindi Forest to track a family of endangered mountain gorillas
  • Discover the hunter-gatherer traditions of the Batwa Pygmies – the native tribal inhabitants of the forest

Mountain gorillas are known to be frequent visitors to the Bwindi Lodge, your last stay on your Ugandan adventure.

Travel via Ishasha to see if you can spot the unusual behaviour of the tree-climbing lions of the area, before arriving at the luxurious Bwindi Eco Lodge. The lodge is one of a kind as the only thing separating it from the primaeval Bwindi Forest is a stream, which means that the mountain gorillas are frequent visitors to the lodge! You can also trek through the Impenetrable Forest, immersing yourself in the area’s unique flora and fauna, before getting up to seven metres close to a family of endangered mountain gorillas. Here guests can also take part in some of VSPT’s community projects: you can discover the traditions of the indigenous people of the Bwindi forest, the Batwa Pygmies, enjoy sundowners at the community-run Bwindi Bar, or visit the Bwindi Community Hospital. All experiences on offer give guests a unique glimpse into conservation and community as well as providing a truly special Ugandan jungle safari.
