Why we love it
Malikha Lodge is situated in Northern Kachin State, Myanmar’s greenest and most remote state. Formally known as Fort Hertz, Putao was one of the British Empire’s most remote outposts. During the Second World War, even the Japanese were unable to conquer this remote and isolated area.
Putao remains completely cut off from the outside world by
millions of acres of subtropical rainforest and jagged peaks. Home to a myriad of different cultures and religions, its reputation as a land of old-style adventure and discovery is rivaled only by the warmness of its welcome.
Trek around the paths of the Himalayan foothills to discover this untouched corner of northern Myanmar, with glorious mountain views.
Experience the health benefits of traditional Burmese botanicals and ingredients, such as ylang ylang and rose, in a trip to the lodge's spa.
Bike high into the mountains along rocky trails and lush paths to discover hard to reach corners of the Himalayan foothills.
Hop on a raft and into the river for an exhilarating splash, rushing through the water and passing local riverside life along the way.
Take a trip to Putao, a remote village at the foot of the Himalayas, to experience local life and rural Burmese culture firsthand.

I am writing to thank you for arranging a most wonderful trip to Burma in January. Every part of it was perfect. The guides were excellent and they had different strengths. We enjoyed driving instead of flying from Bagan to Mandalay (we decided to change that en route and it was fine) as it exposed us to a bit more of the country. We loved the ballooning of course and washing Buddha’s face and the hotels. And the lacquer showroom and factory. In fact, everything. You did a fabulous job. Thanks so much; all three of us had a trip to remember and learned so much.
