Start your family holiday in Japan’s best skiing resort, known for its world class powder snow and off-piste slopes.
Begin your adventure in Japan skiing at the Niseko resort in Hokkaido. Your five nights will be spent in the boutique ski-in ski-out Ki Niseko hotel, surrounded by wonderful views of Mount Yotei and Mount Annupuri. The hotel’s location right on the slopes means less ski carrying and more time skiing, with ample time to try Niseko’s world famous powder snow. The resort offers private skiing lessons for families with first timers, as well as night skiing for those willing to try something a bit more adventurous. Find time to relax at the hotel’s Ki Spa to try the Oriental Ki Treatment, or unwind in a traditional Onsen filled with mineral-rich water from Ki Niseko’s own private spring source. In the evenings, take the hotel’s complimentary shuttle down to Hiragu or Kutchan to try traditional hotpot Shabu-shabu and sushi.
Experience the wonders of Tokyo city for yourself with a two-night stay at The Four Seasons.
From Niseko, transfer to Sapporo to catch a flight to Tokyo, for a two-night stay at The Four Seasons Marunouchi. The hotel’s prime location downtown provides easy access to try some of Tokyo’s most famous experiences. Families can shop and explore the various districts, try drum rolling, sword drawing as well as visit the sumo stables to see sumo wrestlers training. For budding scientists, a trip to the Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation on Odaiba Island is a must. For food lovers, try a fishing adventure in Tokyo Bay or be guided around Tsukiji fish Market by a 4th generation Edamame sushi chef before trying some of his dishes at his family-owned restaurant. To see the city at night, cruise down the Sumida River on a traditional Kakatabure Boat for some spectacular city views.
Immerse yourself in Japan’s beautiful nature, surrounded by national parks, forests, lava caves and the iconic Mount Fuji.
Drive to Lake Kawaguchi to glamp in a tranquil red pine forest at the unique Hoshinoya Fuji Resort. Relax from your drive and be immersed in nature in a hammock, or on the cloud terrace sitting next to a crackling bonfire enjoying the spectacular views over Mount Fuji and the lake. The beautiful resort offers seasonal feasts enjoyed out in the open air, as well as pizzas cooked straight from the oven fuelled by wood you can chop yourself. It offers a host of adventures: from canoeing on the lake at sunrise to see Mount Fuji light up in the morning sun; a hiking adventure in a primeval forest exploring lava caves; and a guided cycling tour to a prime panoramic seat overlooking Mount Fuji.
You will be spoilt for choice during your three-night stay in Japan’s historic city, filled with historic temples, bamboo gardens and tranquil waterways.
Take the bullet train to beautiful Kyoto and stay three nights at the luxurious The Thousand Hotel. This is one of the best bases to explore the historic city, to walk through its quiet waterways and visit some of its twelve UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Wander in the traditional moss-covered Japanese Gardens at the Saiho-ji Temple or learn about The Samurai at Nijo Castle. Cycle or walk through the Arashiyama Bamboo Grove to be surrounded by soaring bamboo shoots, or have traditional tea with a Geisha. Kyoto is a foodie’s paradise – from Michelin starred restaurants to local stalls, experience them all on a night food tour in Osaka and try Okonomiyaki – an osaki-style savoury pancake – under the neon lit sky.
