Traditional Tea Ceremony

Japan
Tea is far more than a casual beverage in Japan. It’s a symbolic and traditional ceremony dating back over a thousand years. Matcha, a fine powder of Japanese green tea, takes centre stage in the traditional tea ceremony, known as chanoyu or sado. The main aim of the ceremony, beyond the serving of tea, is to allow guests to enjoy the hospitality of the host in a relaxed environment, far removed from the fast pace of everyday life.
