The Explores House functions as a private club with comfortable seating areas, tea and coffee and a library of books related to Antarctica. Later this evening, gather for a welcome dinner with regional dishes and meet your fellow passengers.

Day 2

  • Board your luxury vessel and settle into your cabin

Take a scheduled flight to George Island in the South Shetland Islands.

As you step off the plane, let the clean Antarctic air fill your lungs along with the excitement of the journey ahead. You will walk past Chile’s Frei Station and Russia’s Bellingshausen Station to reach the shore and board a Zodiac directly to The Magellan Explorer waiting to take you to the Antarctic Peninsula.

The Magellan Explorer is a great choice if you want a luxury cruise in Antarctica without the Drake Passage crossing. This small luxury exploration vessel has a capacity for just 73 guests in seven cabin categories and 10 zodiac boats for accessing land. On board, there is an impressive gym a sauna, an indoor and outdoor observation deck, and a well-stocked library. Most cabins feature a private balcony and sitting area, and the interiors are calm and contemporary throughout the ship.

Days 3-6

South Shetlands and Antarctic Peninsula

  • Navigate ice-filled fjords passing spectacular iceberg formations along the way
  • Enjoy some of the best wildlife viewings in the world

Sail between the South Shetland Islands and the western coast of the Antarctic Peninsula.

Each day you will disembark by Zodiac and explore the landscape together with expert polar guides. No two days are the same, and the Captain will plan the route according to the wildlife and weather opportunities at the time. Your voyage may include visits to sites in the South Shetland Islands, the Antarctic Sound, the Gerlache Strait, and the Penola Strait. What can be guaranteed is that the wildlife and landscape you will encounter throughout your journey will be unforgettable.

When you are on board a range of educational presentations will be offered to broaden your knowledge and understanding of the region. Enjoy spectacular views from the observation lounge or relax in your cabin and watch the world float past.

Days 7-8

Punta Arenas

  • Fly back to Punta Arenas from King George Island
  • Final night in Chile before departing on your onward journey

Board your return flight to Chile from King George Island.

Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel in Punta Arenas for the night. Dinner is not included but we can arrange a table reservation at the hotel for you or at any one of the restaurants in town.
