Great Zimbabwe

Zimbabwe

Built between the 11th and 15th centuries, Great Zimbabwe represent the country’s great architectural skills and deep traditions, once home to cattle-herding people. The ruins are made up of granite walls, characterised by turrets, towers and incredibly sculpted stairways, however the purpose of these ruins is yet to be discovered. That said, they showcase skills in architecture that are unparalleled elsewhere in Africa, or indeed the world.
