JOHANNESBURG, South Africa

  • Our secret bolthole in Jozi is the perfect spot for a night in the city
  • Ask the front desk for dinner recommendations – they have great taste

As the largest city in South Africa, seek refuge in the leafy surroundings of Melrose, only a short walking distance from the hustle and bustle.

After flying into Johannesburg, spend a night at The Peech Hotel, a charming family-run boutique where you’ll recharge your batteries before your safari. Located in a peaceful garden with both a lap and family swimming pool, unwind in this secluded property where comfort is found in abundance. If you’re lucky, your stay might even coincide with a wine-tasting evening or patio play in the grounds. Melrose Arch is within walking distance if you wish to browse the shops.

Day 2-5

MARAKELE NATIONAL PARK,  South Africa

  • The lodge is a true gem offering amazing wildlife experiences in a private reserve
  • Enjoy a malaria-free safari with top-notch guiding and excellent wildlife sightings

One of South Africa’s most underrated national parks, your stay at Marataba will be hugely memorable not only for its amazing wildlife but also for its dramatic mountainous landscape.

Travel to Marakele National Park, where you’ll spend three nights in an eco-suite at Marataba Mountain Lodge. Located in the beautifully isolated Waterberg region and suspended on a mountainside, the lodge prides itself on offering a malaria-free safari experience. With a speciality for year-round walking safaris, get close to an abundance of wildlife and fauna whilst on riverine, gorge and mountain trails. Both morning and evening game drives will also lead you to a variety of wildlife. As home to the Big Five, the endangered black rhino and over 360 bird species, be sure to pack your binoculars.

Day 5-8

CAPE TOWN, South Africa

  • Chris is the most connected man in Cape Town and his hotel is the perfect base to explore the mother city
  • Just moments from the vibrant Kloof and Long streets, this boutique bolthole is a True Travel top pick

Experience the beauty of Cape Town, a city which combines incredible landscapes and cosmopolitan culture.

Replace the wilderness with rugged coastline and spend three nights at Kensington Place, a chic boutique retreat on Table Mountain’s doorstep. On a private tour around the city, ascend to the heights of Table Mountain, cycle the Sea Point Promenade and visit the highlights of the Bo-Kapp. We can arrange for you to explore the Cape Peninsula, stopping off at sites such as Boulders Beach and Cape Point along the way. Upgrade to extraordinary fine dining experiences in and around the city where you’ll eat in a township or on a luxury motor yacht.

Day 8-10

CAPE WINELANDS, South Africa

  • We wished we lived at Babylonstoren, where days are best spent wandering the gardens, sipping the estate rosé and sampling fresh produce
  • An afternoon charcuterie tasting comes highly recommended

Inland and north of Cape Town, The Cape Winelands are home to beautiful rolling hills scattered with vineyards and Cape Dutch architecture. Here you’ll taste the finest wines in South Africa.

Finish your trip in the Cape Winelands with two nights at one of the oldest Cape Dutch farms, Babylonstoren. A destination in its own right, the farm offers a complimentary guided cellar tour and boasts healthy fresh produce from its own eight-acre kitchen garden. Revel in the relaxing lifestyle of the Babylonstoren bubble whilst swimming in the farm dam, exploring the beautiful gardens, playing pétanque or enjoying a glass of wine at sunset. We can reserve you a table at the farm’s celebrated main restaurant, Babel, where you’ll take delight in a farm-to-table experience.

Missy & Harry

Absolutely amazing holiday. Garonga is heaven! We did everything possible and our guide was brilliant and hilarious. I can definitely recommend True Travel for their excellent advice and professionalism – they clearly are very knowledgeable about where they send their clients and made sure we had a worry-free holiday that perfectly suited us. We were particular grateful for the collection off our flight and help onto our transfer in Johannesburg, which included a very nifty queue jump due to their reputation!
