North Island is a place of barefoot luxury for those seeking an unspoilt, spectacular tropical retreat. There are only 11 individually handcrafted guest villas on the entire island, each constructed to create a sensorial experience in surroundings of understated elegance and providing a unique atmosphere and distinct flavour of the Seychelles. Each villa has a study or second bedroom, creating the perfect space for children. All the villas are built directly on the eastern beach.
A lounge, dining room and library, scenically located health spa and gym, world-class dive centre, and a rim-flow swimming pool are all built into a granitic outcrop. A sunset bar and restaurant are tucked away on the western beach of the island.
On this floating paradise, 11 guest villas have been built from local materials reaped from the rehabilitation process, where luxury and simplicity mingle to form a signature architectural style we call ‘barefoot luxury’. North Island is a place that unashamedly aims at providing the very best in privacy, location, accommodation, services, facilities and experience, yet has restored its environment to a place of verdant plenty; a Noah’s Ark afloat in warm tropical waters in colours of blue and aquamarine. The true essence of North Island is a rare encounter that is in harmony with the environment – one that touches and inspires the lives of all who walk her beaches, dive her waters and contemplate her beauty.
The Piazza is the natural focal point of the Island, gathered around and beneath a large Indian almond tree. The architecture blends ovals and minimalist lines that lead the eye to the uninterrupted 360-degree views of beach, tree and the inner Island.
The furnishings symbolise lightness and escape and a wide deck leads seamlessly onto the beach and the endless horizon. The complete openness of the lounge and bar area is transparent and minimalist, while inviting sun-bed loungers and cushions supply sumptuous comfort. The library and scattering of artefacts are part of an ongoing essay in the old trading history of this magical place.
Each of the 11 villas is a home for a couple or family, lovingly and individually handcrafted by Seychellois and African craftsmen from wood, local-hewn stone and glass. This is your haven: a warm inviting space in which to enjoy a complete sense of ease and freedom. Should you wish, all 11 villas and the island as a whole can become your own private domain.
Villa North Island is the essence of privacy and exclusion. The sheer volume, scale and luxury of this villa are unimaginably decadent as it spreads out across multi-tiered levels, cascading down granitic boulders onto a private beach entry to the ocean.

We had a wonderful stay at Alphonse. It was fantastic – we went out fishing and easily caught loads of fish. It was perfect for the family too, and my daughter Lucy started her PADI there. The weather was great the whole time and we really couldn’t fault a single part of our trip.
