Visit Atlas Mountains
The Atlas Mountains span from the Atlantic coast through to Algeria and Tunisia, with the High Atlas forming the highest and most rugged section of the mountain range. Its jagged peaks act as a weather barrier between the mild, Mediterranean climate to the north and the encroaching Sahara to the south, making it a popular escape from the sizzling heat of Morocco’s cities. It also serves as a convenient stopover on the long drives between the northern cities and the desert in the south.
The region is characterised by endless winding passes cut into the green valleys, mud-built Berber villages and dramatic rugged landscapes. It is a haven for hikers of all levels from spring through to autumn, but for many services the purpose of a relaxing mountain retreat amid an otherwise jam-packed Moroccan itinerary!

The Palais de L’O was extremely comfortable with absolutely charming and very helpful staff. We had a lovely week, which ticked all the boxes, thank you so much for all your hard work. Also when I got home this afternoon, resting on top of the inevitable pile of bills was a parcel containing a lovely Garden Mint candle, thank you so much, what a lovely and much appreciated surprise.
