The Chief’s House is the largest of Ol Lentille’s villas and is a huge three-bedroom villa that is beautifully designed, styled and furnished. There is lots of space, ambience and privacy for a family or group of friends to enjoy. Here is African minimalist design decorated with wonderful art, fabrics and artefacts from across the continent.
The sculpted roof collects rainfall, and blends into its rocky surroundings. Inside, the roof provides vaulted ceilings for the sumptuously cool modern interiors. There are breathtaking views of the rolling mountains and rugged hills of northern Kenya and the private 40,000-acre Ol Lentille Conservancy. The private wildlife reserve is home to elephants, greater kudu, African wild dogs, leopard, and the endangered Grevy’s zebra to name but a few.
Your day often starts with a leisurely breakfast unless you want to do an early morning activity. Breakfast is served at the time of your choice followed by your chosen private activity. The idea of staying here is a relaxing one and there are no enforced early starts like lots of other lodges in Africa.
There is a fully equipped kitchen across the courtyard from the dining room, where your personal butler will serve delicious food prepared by a talented chef.
If you don’t feel like eating in the villa, great food can be provided poolside, or picnic can be arranged or dinner in the bush, with the clink of crystal and silverware accompanying the sounds of the Kenyan wildlife. Eating in the library for a night of your stay is also a special experience.
Retrace the steps of Laikipia wildlife as you drive out into the plains to see animals in their natural habitat, with elephants being a likely sighting.
Walk around the plains to get up close to all the action and learn about the smaller things that can be missed when you are in a car!
Tick off your bird list in Laikipia - a bird watcher's paradise - with over 150 species living in the conservation area.
Be lead by Maasai warriors on the back of a camel into the Kenyan wilderness, for the most traditional way of exploring deep in the African wilderness.
Ride through the rocky landscape to observe wildlife up close. Be prepared to gallop away from an elephant if you have gotten too close!
Exercise your legs whilst exploring the landscape from a new perspective, climbing up into the hills for sweeping views of the plains below.
Combine technology and tradition as you quad bike to a local Maasai village, exploring the rugged savannah terrain as you go.

I went on an adventure of a lifetime to Kenya, planned by True Travel. Borana was the perfect introduction to Africa – the staff were fantastic, the lodge very comfortable and I had amazing wildlife sightings. Then the helicopter flight and night out with Andrew (the real Crocodile Dundee) was an experience of a lifetime; we went scorpion hunting, crocodile catching, swimming in lakes and flew over flamingos. All in all, everything was fantastically planned and the service was brilliant. I’m looking forward to the next adventure!
