Liberty started her career in luxury travel as an East Africa safari specialist before moving into a product role for Europe and the Middle East. As part of this she spent a great deal of time covering the length and breadth of Italy, Spain and Portugal – sourcing exceptional travel experiences. For much of this she was based out of Boston, MA (three years), before moving back to the UK in 2020 and joining True Travel at the end of 2024.
I’ve always loved to travel and have been lucky enough to enjoy some amazing adventures from climbing Kilimanjaro to family ski trips in France. Moving into the travel industry was the perfect step not only allowing me to experience so many new places – I’ve been able to go gorilla trekking in Rwanda, search for snow leopards in Ladakh, explore so much of Italy – but also to meet some amazing people along the way.
I love being able to immerse myself in the local culture of a destination, whether through the food, learning about historic sights and local traditions or simply relaxing over a lazy lunch with a fabulous view. The more authentic the better.
Make sure you take some time to enjoy the planning process – share as much information as you can and really think about what you’re looking to get from a trip. The anticipation of your future adventure is also a huge part of the fun.
The fist time I went to Africa, I was just 18 and was absolutely blown away. l went on my first safari and learnt to dive off the coast of Mafia Island. The marine park there is one of the largest protected areas in the Indian Ocean and supports a huge array of biodiversity from sea grass and mangroves to some stunning coral reefs. I’ve been back twice since and it remains one of my favourite places for it’s laid back atmosphere, palm fringed beaches and off the beaten track feel.
